You are hereLiterature Background
The ability to understand and critically examine scientific literature is paramount for all scientists. Gaining this ability takes practice and is helped greatly by discussions with your advisor, colleagues in your research group, and beyond. Familiarity with the literature will come naturally as you pursue research over the course of the Ph.D. The second-year Preliminary Examination and the Original Research Proposal requirements are also designed to test students’ familiarity with the literature. Students can continually learn more about current research by attending weekly seminars throughout their career on a rich variety of topics across campus.
